Ethical IT Company

Ethical IT Company: IT Itch Introduce Round Up For Charity.

Looking for an ethical IT company? Every year at IT Itch the employees are given a few days off work to help out their favourite charity. So, instead of beavering away trying to magnify their clients web presence, IT Itch employees can often be found on the roadside collecting money for worthy causes, or rolling up their sleeves and doing the nitty-gritty of volunteer work. Some even choose to dress up in animal costumes to protest the cruel treatment of battery hens, or organise rallies to protect threatened rainforests. Some even risk getting arrested.

We allow this because ethics are important to us. Very important. Without ethics we would merely be another uncaring, dispassionate IT company not interested in our social obligations. With ethics we become part of our wider community, a participant rather than an exploiter. We become instigators for positive social change, and we can assert that the very purpose of our business is NOT to make money but to enrich our employees, customers AND our community.

- IT Itch CEO Christopher Berg

This participation in ethical practises trickles down to the employees daily lives – to their working lives. But what about their customers? They want to lend a hand too, but often they work in companies that don’t allow for such a full participation in community activities. Luckily, the Happiness Boffins at IT Itch have been working on this problem. Over the coming months they will be introducing a number of initiatives. The first initiative is called “Round Up For Charity”.

Round Up For Charity will make it easy for customers to make a donation to charity – and they won’t even have to stand on the roadside with a donation bucket to chip in! During checkout, customers will be able to round up their purchase to the nearest dollar and give the difference to a charity of their choice. Round Up For Charity will make supporting a great cause a cinch. Customers just need to check the box to round up their order to the nearest dollar and they can donate the difference to the charity they feel they would most like to support. They’ll barely notice the difference in their bill, but together, customers can make a significant contribution.

Round Up For Charity is currently available on the IT Itch website for customers purchasing domain names, web hosting, SSL certificates, and email plans. For premium purchases, such as search engine optimisation consulting, web design and digital marketing, a sales consultants will ask clients if they would like to join in.

Customers can donate to one of the following charities:

  • Hope for Haiti has improved the lives of hundreds of thousands of Haitian children and their families for more than 20 years. When you donate, 96% of every dollar goes directly to the Haitian people.
  • Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation is a leader in setting the agenda for diabetes research worldwide. The largest charitable funder of type-1 diabetes research, this foundation has donated more than $1.5 billion since 1970. Its mission is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications.
  • Arizona Humane Society (AHS) is the state’s leading animal welfare agency. AHS operates the largest shelter-based trauma center in the southwest and runs the only animal rescue and cruelty investigation program. As a non-profit organization, It relies solely on donations to safeguard, rescue, shelter, heal, and advocate for more than 44,000 animals annually.
